A massive clearing operation in Manila was enforced by officials from the Department of Public Service (DPS), Department of Engineering and Public Works (DEPW), and Manila Traffic and Parking Bureau (MTPB) on Wednesday, Aug. 3.
In a report by RH29 Boy Gonzales on MBC Network News, the clearing operation was executed in accordance with Mayor Honey Lacuna’s Executive Order No. 15 Series of 2022 “No Parking” and “No Vending policy.”
The government officials have confiscated all goods of vendors from Rizal Avenue to Carriedo.
However, a slight tension arose between the government officers and the vendors.
Merchants reasoned out that the operation is unjust because they are paying rental fees for their stall.
The local government unit (LGU) of Manila has created a task force against road obstruction. It will prohibit parking and vending in various places particularly Quezon Blvd. and Rizal Ave.
It will also regulate the streets and roads around Quiapo Church.
Mabuhay lanes are also listed to be subject to clearing operations.
According to the Manila LGU, any vendors who will violate the said ordinance will be penalized.
